Fate stopped smiling on her a long time ago. So is a mate now a blessing or a curse?
Eleya has done more with her life than most Brions will. Not only a General, but a High Senator, she's achieved everything but the love that every Brion seeks. When a twist of fate brings her face to face with her second mate, can she move on from the pain the first one caused, or is he just another challenge to be dealt with?
Xaven as a more than capable Brion Captain wants many things, but being a General is not one of them. However a mate that is one... well, a man can have no objections to that, now can he? Only when it becomes clear that their paths are too divergent to come together must the warrior reconsider his faith in fate. Perhaps some things are not meant to be.
Or maybe they need to be fought for harder than he ever expected?
This is a standalone novella in the Brion Brides series which can and should be read as such. It is a science fiction romance story with plenty of steam, hot warriors, no cheating, a happy ending and tempers flaring the Brion way! Come join the ride!

I would disagree that this is a standalone. While there's no cliffhanger, you definitely should have read at least the first of the Brion Brides series in order to have any context. I was fortunate in that I've read the series and was able to follow the story. Eleya was never a likeable character to me. She always seemed bitter and she still is here. Xaven is a very atypical Brion. He lacks the ambition to be a general although he easily has the skill. The two make for an odd couple and each of them makes some mistakes, although I think the vast majority of the fault for their rocky bonding and relationship belong to Eleya. As with all of Voxley's romances there is plenty of sex. The sex is pretty much the same in every book, so if you've enjoyed those passages before you will like the erotica here. The one thing that always turned me off about her sex scenes was that the guys are supposed to be so hung that they cause the women pain during sex--but the women either welcome it or don't care. Ouch! Make note that this is a really quick novella and not a full entry in the series. I was glad to see her return to this series rather than the others, which I've never liked as well. I hope to see more Brions in the future!Product details

A Mate for the Senator Brion Brides Book 9 edition by Vi Voxley Romance eBooks Reviews
I really liked the story and that Eleya got her second chance. I loved the novella and could have loved a full length book on these two lovers. A different and enjoyable storyline.
This series Kicks Ass and Drops Panties!, the Brion warriors are built for war both on the field and the bedroom, they Never Fail Ever, which is why finding their fated Mates is a Challenge they Relish!
Love Eleya, happy that she gets a second chance at love. Loved Xaven, her Garion. They get off to a rough start. Eleya has a hard time letting go of the past. Xaven is powerful warrior with no real ambition. It takes Eleya's aid to help Xaven understand his gesha. Great story.
My Brions are back! I have so missed the Brions and I was pleasantly surprised to receive the update that Vi Voxley gifted us with another Brion's book. The icing on the cupcake is when I realised the book is about Senator Eleya whom we were introduced in the earlier series. This story is shorter than the previous Brion Brides series, also both of the MCs are Brions! I usually prefer my h to be humans but I really don't mind as I was so looking forward to Eleya and was hoping that Vi Voxley writes a happy ever after for her. I really enjoyed this book!
It was hard deciding who my favorite was in this book so called it even between Xaven and Eliyah. Talk about total role reversals and a Brion male warrior not wanting to be a general. What is Briolina coming to? Loved this book. Would not have minded another five or more chapters. Another good read from Vi Voxley. Thanks!
Really enjoyed this story. Nice to see Eleya get her second chance, although I was getting a bit tired of her angst. Understandable, but nearly tedious. Loved Xaven though. It was great to see a Brion who knew who he was and strong enough to stand for himself, and not need to be a general... and the ending was fabulous. Trust Vi to be able to keep her hero strong and sweet at the same time. And giving both fated everything they deserve. Highly recommended if you like to see other characters finally get their own happy endings.
I received a copy for review, but as always Vi Voxley is always worth buying her books so she keeps on writing. She's always an automatic buy for me.
High Senator Eleya is in charge of Briolina, the Brion's home world. She also must handle any problems with the Brion Generals. While taking care of one such situation, she encounters Captain Xaven. He's her Fated, her gerion. Because of her past experiences, she doesn't trust the process.
This is interesting to watch. Finally, Eleya is in a position to have the mate perfect for her, but it's not an easy path. Their story is angst-ridden, each failing to see their own culpability in this affair of hearts. When Xaven pulls out all the stops (with the right motivation), he is unparalleled!
An excellent romance the Brion way!
